North Carolina
Reasons for founding: The Colony of Carolina was founded by 9 proprietors in the 1600s who wanted to use the land to grow and trade tobacco, indigo, and later cotton. It was split into two colonies, North and South Carolina, in the 1700s.
Date of Founding: 1653 by Virginians.
Economy: Rice was a important part of their economy. As well as indigo, and corn.
Geography: Coastal plains, plateau and mountain ranges
Government: Proprietary Government.
Celebrities/Important Residents: Andrew Johnson and James K. Polk
Religion: Anglicans. Although many residents, were Protestant.
Residency Requirements: North Carolina's only requirement for its residents was that the residents had to obey the kings orders/laws/rules.
Target Residents: People who were interested in economy and farming.
